PISLM Title Sponsor of LCOY Dominica 2025

Roseau, Dominica, September 18, 2025- Recognizing the importance of youth leadership in advancing synergies in the climate, land, water nexus  the Partnership Initiative for Sustainable Land Management (PISLM), was pleased to be the title sponsor of Dominica’s first ever Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) organised by the Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN).

PISLM’s sponsorship was made possible from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded project ‘Strengthening Resilience of Agricultural Lands and Forests in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria’, implemented with support from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

The LCOY, which focused on land and water management and governance, was held on August

29, 2025 and included a series of engaging activities which included interactive simulations, panel discussions, and workshops.

These sessions culminated in the development of a National Youth Statement (NYS), which is set to contribute to the Global Conference of Youth (COY) and influence discussions at the Conference of the Parties (COP).

PISLM was represented by Project Manager- Euan James, Administrative Assistant- Kiangha Bully and Technical Assistant Ms. Tiffany Marcelle, who provided essential support for the event and facilitated a key workshop on Sustainable Land Management in Agriculture and Watershed Conservation.

The Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) is a youth-led gathering recognized under the YOUNGO framework, the official children and youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The Partnership Initiative for Sustainable Land Management was pleased to sponsor the activity, which gives young people of Caribbean Small Island Developing States (CSIDS), like Dominica, a platform to deepen their understanding of issues such as soil erosion, deforestation, and desertification, building a generation of informed leaders and changemakers.
