ST. GEORGE’S GRENADA, NOVEMBER 6, 2025- The Partnership Initiative for Sustainable Land Management (PISLM) proudly joins the region in congratulating Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim of the Republic of Guyana on his election as Director General of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) for the 2026–2030 term.
The election marks a historic milestone, as Dr. Ibrahim becomes the first Guyanese national to hold this prestigious office.
“Dr. Ibrahim’s appointment and his extensive experience, deep commitment to sustainable agriculture, and strong Caribbean representation will be invaluable for our organisations as we continue working together within the Caribbean Region,” remarked Executive Director- Dr. Ronen Francis.
PISLM looks forward to working with IICA, under the stewardship of the new Director General, to implement the Caribbean Drought Initiative, approved at the UNCCD COP in Saudi Arabia, 2024, which aims to assess drought impacts and promote innovative solutions for resilience.
